Wildcats Take on Sabers in Second Game of Season

The Johnson & Wales Wildcats traveled to Concord, NC to take on the Sabers of Barber Scotia College this evening in their second game of the season. The Wildcats started out strong jumping into a 7-point lead, but the Sabers responded quickly by going inside to tie the game. The Wildcats continued playing with defensive pressure and opened up another strong lead led by Kareem Wilson, Hursel Forbes, and Shaquille White. The Sabers continued an inside game, but kept the game close. At halftime, the Wildcats walked off the court with a 2-point lead. Strong outside shooting was performed by Bruce Lewis. The Wildcats opened up a hot second half with a 10-0 run sparked by Bruce Lewis’s outside shooting once again. The Sabers then turned around with a 21-0 run of their own. Johnson & Wales played evenly throughout the game, but were not able to close the gap in order to regain the lead. Unfortunately, the Sabers took the game with a 68-55 win. When asked about the Wildcats’ performance, head coach Dion Lansdale said, “In order to be successful we need to make the team stronger mentally and cut down on mistakes.”

Johnson & Wales University will rest up and look to come back strong on November 7th when they play at home against Montreat College at 7:00pm.
