Charlotte, NC - Three Johnson & Wales University student-athletes have been selected as USCAA National Players of the Week for Sept. 5.
Women's soccer sophomore Lana Truese (Herndon, VA/ Herndon HS) and men's soccer juniors Jalen Jackson (Kannapolis, NC/ A.L. Brown HS) and John Lowes (Greensboro, NC/ Southeast Guilford HS) were all honored after leading their respective programs to undefeated starts in the 2017 season.
Truese, a striker, posted three goals and two assists in a pair of victories over the week, including a 3-1 victory at Washington Adventist and a 3-0 home victory over Kentucky Christian. This is the first time Truese has been selected for the award in her career. She currently ranks fifth in the USCAA in goals scored and sixth in total points.
Jackson, also a striker, has earned the honor for the second time in his career. He has scored in four straight matches for the men's soccer program, helping the team post a 4-0 record while outscoring the opposition 18-0. He currently is sitting on six goals and an assist on the year and leads the USCAA in both goals and total points.
Lowes, a goalkeeper, is a first-time selection. The Wildcats co-captain has led the team to four consecutive clean sheets on the season, playing over 290 minutes without surrendering a single goal. He currently leads the USCAA in save percentage, goals against average and goals against.
