Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Athletic Director Trudi Lacey received the honor of being named the Garth Pleasant Honorary Athletic Director of the Year for 2018. The award was presented at the USCAA Annual National Convention, held in Richmond, VA in early June. The award is given each year by the USCAA to an outstanding athletic director from one of it's member schools.
The athletic department enjoyed the most successful year in program history in 2017-2018. Four of the five sports advanced to postseason play, with women's basketball winning the first national championship in school history. Men's soccer had an undefeated regular season, and featured the USCAA's National Player of the Year. Women's soccer earned their second straight postseason birth, and had one of their players named USCAA National Student-Athlete of the Year. The unparalleled success of women's basketball included Head Coach Jennifer King being named USCAA National Coach of the Year.
In addition to the athletic successes the Wildcats enjoyed this year, they also posted the department's first ever above 3.0 GPA. Additionally, the teams participated in numerous community service and volunteer projects, including the annual All Sports Day on campus.
