Charlotte, NC - Barber-Scotia was able to escape with a 103-101 overtime victory over the host Johnson and Wales Wildcats in the final game of the JWU Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Sabers (8-5) knocked down 17 three pointers in the game including 6 in the final 13 minutes that helped them erase a 10 point deficit to force the extra period.
Johnson and Wales (7-11) got a career high 30 points from freshman Majerle Poole as well as 26 points from Rickey Porter. Poole also grabbed 8 rebounds, handed out 8 assists, and had 3 steals and a block in 43 minutes. Alcyone Moore, 14 points, and Davian Bryan, 12 points, were the other Wildcats to reach double figures on the afternoon.
Barber-Scotia's Jonathan Gaddy scored 31 points and Kamal Ramons add 27 for the visitors.
The Wildcats are next in action Tuesday night as they travel to Greenville, SC to take on Bob Jones University. Tip off is at 8pm.
