Columbia, SC - JC Cavin scored the game winning basket with two seconds remaining as Columbia International University held off the USCAA #14 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team 72-70 on Thursday.
Senior forward Rickey Porter scored a game high 28 points, including the tying layup with seven seconds remaining, to pace Johnson & Wales (7-15).
Johnson & Wales forced 20 turnovers in the game, compared to only 11 for Columbia International, but struggled to match the Rams from beyond the arc. The Wildcats connected on just 1-of-8 from beyond the arc, while Columbia International finished 9-of-22.
Cavin led the Rams with 20 points on the evening.
The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Concord, NC, to play Barber-Scotia College. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
