Piedmont International Uses Charity Stripe to Down Wildcats

Charlotte, NC - Piedmont International University made the USCAA #19 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team pay early and often from the free throw line in a 93-84 victory over the Wildcats on Tuesday.

Piedmont International finished 29-of-37 from the free throw line on the night, earning 20 more attempts than the host Wildcats (7-16).

Rickey Porter led Johnson & Wales with a double-double, posting 27 points and 13 rebounds.  Teammate Alcyone Moore continued his strong run of play with 17 points on the night while Jarrett Ballard chipped in with a career high 15 points. 

Javon Smith also reached double figures with 12 points for the Wildcats.

Nash Carter led Piedmont International with a game high 36 points, including a perfect 12-of-12 performance from the free throw line.

Johnson & Wales will resume play on Monday, Feb. 13 when they host NAIA foe St. Andrews University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
