High Point, N.C. - Majerle Poole scored a game high 17 points, but the USCAA #14 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team suffered a 90-54 loss at NCAA Division I foe High Point University on Friday.
Poole finished 7-of-19 for the Wildcats (2-4), who have lost four in a row during a particularly daunting stretch of schedule, a run including two Division I programs and opponents from NCAA Division II and the NAIA.
Kajuan Madden-McAfee added 11 points for Johnson & Wales.
The Wildcats found themselves in a deep hole early on, as High Point raced out to a quick 6-0 lead and steadily built the advantage to 41-12 with 3:43 remaining in the half. The Panthers shot nearly 55 percent throughout the game, leading by as many as 43 points midway through the second half.
High Point outscored Johnson & Wales 52-22 in the paint and forced 21 turnovers on the evening.
Andre Fox led the Panthers with 14 points.
The Wildcats will look to get back on track Wednesday when they host Carolina Christian. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
