Bruins Pull Away in Second Half as JWU Suffers 84-74 Defeat

Greenville, S.C. - A 7-0 run by Bob Jones early in the second half set the tone as the Bruins emerged with an 84-74 victory over the USCAA #18 Johnson & Wales men's basketball team on Thursday.

Johnson & Wales (4-13) found themselves tied at 40 with Bob Jones just two minutes into the second half after Majerle Poole split a pair of free throws.  However, Bob Jones held the Wildcats scoreless over the next two-and-a-half minutes, taking the lead for good with a 47-40 advantage.

The Bruins were dominant on the inside throughout the game, holding a 42-28 advantage over Johnson & Wales in both rebounding and points in the paint.

Johnson & Wales was led by Poole with 17 points and Kajuan Madden-McAfee with 16 points.  Caleb Coleman (12 points) and Malik Bullock (10 points) also reached double figures.

Nate Ellenwood was dominant for Bob Jones, finishing with a game high 28 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists on the evening.

The Wildcats will resume play on Saturday when they travel to Columbia, S.C., to play Columbia International University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
