Dion Lansdale will begin his first year as the Johnson and Wales boy’s basketball coach after spending the last three years as the boy’s head basketball coach at Eastern Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC.

He has been a head basketball coach for 11 years; winning 150 games in that time span. He brings 17 years of coaching experience at the middle school, high school, and collegiate level. 

In his three years at Eastern Guilford, the team played in the conference championship twice. Taking home the win in 2011. The team at Eastern Guilford qualified for state playoffs each season Lansdale was head coach.

A native of Purcell, Oklahoma, Coach Lansdale was an all-conference basketball player and three year varsity letterman. He played on two district championship teams and on one runner-up team. Along with basketball he has also played varsity tennis, cross-country, and track.

Collegiately he played basketball at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas. He then transferred and eventually graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, before beginning his coaching career in 1994.

Coach Lansdale has a wife, Merry, who is a business owner in the area and 5 children: Jonathan (14), Branton (14), Isabella (13), Elizabeth (12), and Ethan (9).
