Charlotte, NC - Head Coach James Drzewiecki and the Johnson & Wales men's soccer program announced the signing of Central Gwinnett High School senior Sanjin "Sano" Kostic on Friday. Kostic, a three-year letterwinner for the Black Knights, is the fourth official signing for the 2017 recruiting class.
A 6'2" midfielder, Kostic has helped Central Gwinnett qualify for the state playoffs each of the past three years despite playing in one of the most notoriously difficult conferences in the state of Georgia. The Lawrenceville native is expected to provide an added element of size and physicality for the Wildcats heading into 2017.
"Sano is something a bit different from what we already have," said Drzewiecki. "He's a true destroyer at heart who really takes pride in his defensive responsibilities. He's excellent in the air and attacks everything that comes his way. He's not out there to be flashy. He's out there to get a job done and do it well. He's a good player now and he has a ton of upside moving forward. He has all the tools to become an essential member of our squad day in and day out."
Kostic plays on the club level for UFA-Lawrenceville 98B Red, where he has served as a team captain. He has been a member of the high school's A and B honor roll and is a recipient of the Black Knight Award.
Sanjin is the son of Senad and Sabiha Kostic and plans on majoring in Business Management.
