Men's Soccer Suffers First Loss At Pfeiffer

Misenheimer, NC - JWU's Men's Soccer Team traveled to play NCAA opponent Pfeiffer University on Wednesday. The Wildcats dropped the contest, 0-1, in a game plagued by heavy rainfall.

#1 JWU outshot the Falcons in the first half, 9-6, but were unable to hit the net. The second half was again a defensive affair until Pfeiffer (6-6) broke through in the 77th minute. Chris Brown found the end of an Arian Cindahl pass to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats (7-1) would search depsrately for a late goal, but to no avail.

"I'm proud of the guys and their effort today. To go on the road against an NCAA program the caliber of Pfeiffer was always going to be a tough test. To do it in a torrentual downpour was an even greater challenge," commented Head Coach Matthew Payne, "I feel like the game could have gone either way, but today it went to Pfeiffer. Hats off to them and to Coach Faticoni. Hopefully this helps prepare us for the rest of the season."

The Wildcats next take the field on Oct. 12 as they host Central Penn at 5:00 pm.
