Charlotte, NC - The USCAA #13 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team used a dominant inside game to claim an 87-73 senior night victory over #10 Warren Wilson College on Wednesday at the Wildcat Center.
Freshman forward Ineesha Hankerson scored a season high 25 points to go with 12 rebounds for the Wildcats (12-6). The Charlotte native finished 11-of-15, leading Johnson & Wales to a victory that may have kept their bid to the USCAA National Championship tournament alive.
Anaja Matthews chipped in with 10 points off the bench.
Johnson & Wales controlled the paint throughout the game, holding advantages in rebounding (50-38), second chance points (20-10), and points in the paint (50-32).
Warren Wilson's Amber Godfrey led all scorers with 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds while Danasia Dumas added 16 points and 10 boards.
For the Wildcats, the win avenged the 93-75 loss to Warren Wilson just 13 days prior. That result stands as the only loss for Johnson & Wales in 2017. Since the New Year, the Wildcats have gone 7-1 and have steadily moved up the polls.
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Feb. 21 when they travel to Greenville, SC, to play Bob Jones University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
