Balanced Attack Leads Women's Basketball to Ninth Straight Win

Charlotte, N.C. - The USCAA #2 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team rode a balanced attack to its ninth straight win, defeating Columbia International University 83-62 on Monday night at the Wildcat Center.

Vanderia Shackleford led the Wildcats (17-4) with 13 points.  Kiara Lloyd and Jada Morgan both came off the bench to score 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

Ineesha Hankerson was one point shy of posting her fourth conesecutive double-double, finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Johnson & Wales led by only four midway through the second quarter, but closed out on an 11-0 run to take a commanding 37-22 lead into the break.  From that point, it was all Wildcats, as the hosts grew their lead to as many as 34 early in the fourth quarter.

Johnson & Wales continued to shoot the ball well, finishing over 43 percent on the night on 33-of-76 shooting.  The Wildcats entered the game ranked sixth in the nation in field goal percentage at 41 percent.

Fatigue was a likely factor for the visiting Rams (4-19), who entered the game with only six healthy players.  Raven Fleming led all scorers with 22 points.

The Wildcats will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to play Piedmont International University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
