King named National Coach of the Year; 2 Wildcats Earn All-American Honors

Farmington, PA - Three members of the women's basketball team were honored at the USCAA Winter Sports Banquet at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA on Tuesday night.

Head Coach Jennifer King was named as the USCAA Women's Division II National Coach of the Year. King has led the Wildcats to a 19-4 record to this point in the season. The team is currently on an 11 game win streak and has not lost in calendar year 2018. She is 24-10 at JWU, her first two seasons as a collegiate head coach. She also helps the department's promotional efforts and has organized a workshop for Charlotte campus student-athletes on healthy eating, rest, and recovery. 

Sophomore forward Ineesha Hankerson was named 2nd Team All-American. Hankerson leads the team in scoring and rebounding this season (12.6 ppg, 10.0 rpg). She was the USCAA National Player of the Week for the week of 12/5/17.

Senior guard Vanderia Shackleford was also named 2nd Team All-American. Shackleford is the first Wildcat to ever be named All-American in each of their four years. She was an Honorable Mention All-American during her freshman year, and has now been named 2nd Team All-American each of the last three years. She was also named USCAA National Player of the Week this season, winning the honor for the week of 1/30/18. She will finish her career as the programs first 1000 point scorer, and will also rank first in steals and assists, while she will rank second in career rebounds.
