Wildcats Drop Road Game To Rams

Winston-Salem, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Basketball Team took on NCAA DII opponent Winston-Salem State on Sunday. The Wildcats fell 81-67.

JWU was led by Ineesha Hankerson's outstanding effort: 26 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. On a night when the Wildcats hit 14 more free throws than their opponent, they couldn't overcome the bench scoring from the Rams (1-3). WSSU's bench outpaced the Wildcats' bench 55-25, led by Amaya Tucker's 6-9 effort from deep. WSSU hit 8 more three-pointers than the Wildcats (2-2) on the evening.

Head Coach Jennifer King reflected on her team's performance: "I thought we played really hard and had opportunities to really make it interesting down the stretch, but we couldn't get enough stops. I'm proud of our overall effort and really like where this team is heading."

JWU is next in action on Dec. 1 at Warren Wilson College with a 3:00 pm tip.
