Women's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale to Rams

Pineville, N.C. - Two early goals proved the difference as the USCAA #5 Johnson & Wales women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Columbia International University in the team's regular season finale.

Janie Holland and Alanna Battermann both scored within the opening 17 minutes for the Rams, giving the visitors their second win of the year over Johnson & Wales (10-5).

Danielle Doyle led the Wildcats with two shots on the afternoon while Nya Hill, Lana Truese, and Sade McMullen each recorded one for the hosts.

Holland opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the contest, converting from the penalty spot to give Columbia International the early advantage.

Battermann made it 2-0 eight minutes later, getting in behind the Wildcats defense before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Kylie Priddy.

Columbia International held a 12-5 advantage in shots, forcing Priddy into seven saves on the afternoon.

Prior to the match, Johnson & Wales senior midfielder Sabrina Dulaney was honored as part of the team's Senior Day festivities.

The Wildcats will resume play on Nov. 9 when they open play at the USCAA National Championship tournament against USCAA #4 Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Science.  Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Field #8 at the Princess Anne Athletic Complex in Virginia Beach, Va.
