Thursday evening Johnson & Wales took on Winston-Salem State University with the hopes of entering their tri-match weekend with a win. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were defeated by the Rams in a 3-0 victory.
Game one began with both teams playing strong. JWU had the lead in the beginning half of the game with good plays by their overall defense. The score became tied at 18-18. WSSU had great attacks and took the lead. The rams won game one 25-23.
Both teams came out hard in the beginning of game two. The game was tied up on four different occasions. WSSU went on a 4-1 run taking the lead. The Wildcats fell short, and the Rams went on to take the win 25-19.
In game three the Wildcats started off slow. WSSU had many hard attacks and the Wildcats kept falling behind. The Rams showed good net play in the middle portion of the game which then led them to a 25-10 victory in the final game of the match.
The Wildcats take on Livingstone College and Peace College this Saturday as Johnson & Wales hosts their first volleyball tri-match in the student center. Come out and support your Wildcats!
