Wildcats Take Victory of Their Last Home Game
The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University took on the Jaguars of Johnston Community College this evening in their last home game of the season. JWU entered the game ready to play and to take home the victory. The Wildcats played strong throughout the night and the crowd was able to cheer on their hard work. JWU beat the Jaguars 3 games to 0. It was a great way to start the JWU Family Weekend 2011-2012.
JWU opened up game one with strong net play and consistent serving. The Wildcats and Jaguars tied early on in the game, but the Wildcats didn't let the Jaguars take the lead. The Wildcats took the win in game one, 25-8.
Carrying their momentum from game one into game two, the Wildcats kept up their strong net play. JWU took the early lead and won game two, 25-14.
The Jaguars came into game three looking for their first win of the match. Both teams were tied early on in the game. Johnston Community College took the lead and the Wildcats strong play slowly disappeared. JWU began to come back as they tied up the game later on. The Wildcats took game three 25-23 and won the match 3 games to 0.
Throughout the night many players stood out for their tremendous play. Shanna Stewart, Tori Dublino, and Taylee Tellechea each had 4 aces. Tellechea also had 6 kills during the match. Kristen Hall had 5 kills as did Lauren Cordts who also had 4 blocks.
When asked about this evenings match, Coach Philips said, "I am glad we could get a win on the opening night of Family Weekend. Also it is great to get a win on the final varsity home game of the season."
The Wildcats have had a great season of improvements and accomplishments. Keep up the great work Lady Wildcats!
