Lady Wildcats Fall  to Pioneers in 3 Games

Spartanburg, SC - The Lady Wildcats (16-9) (Ranked 5th in the USCAA Coaches Poll) hit the road this evening to take on the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist University in their second and final matchup of the season. Unfortunately, JWU was unable to take the victory as the Pioneers won the match 3-0.

Both teams played strong at the net early in game one. The Lady Wildcats were able to get the initial lead at 9-6. SMC went on a 9-2 run to take the lead, and continued increasing their lead behind powerful offense. The Pioneers took game one 25-17.

Game two began with strong net defense by both teams, but the Pioneers found their offense first moving to an 11-6 lead. Great battling at the net continued each way, but the Lady Wildcats could not close the gap. SMC went on to take game two 25-17.

The Lady Wildcats started slow behind several errors, falling 0-5 in game three. After falling behind further, JWU would close the gap within 3 points behind excellent play from Moriah Hughes. However, the Pioneers would regain the momentum to take the game 25-18, for a 3-0 victory.
The Lady Wildcats are next in action at home on Friday, October 19 when they take on the Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College.  Match time set for 6:00 pm.
