Sarah Slaughter Continues Her Volleyball Career at JWU

Sarah Slaughter will be joining the JWU Volleyball Team in 2013, but this is not her first stop as a college volleyball player.  Sarah comes to JWU from Mountain State University in Beckley, West Virginia.  She enrolled in the Johnson & Wales culinary program this winter, and she will be joining the team in the spring for its spring season.  Sarah is a middle and outside hitter who brings an outstanding leaping ability to help her excel at the net.

Before attending college, Sarah played for Robert E. Lee High School in Stanton, VA.  She also played for Blue Ridge Volleyball Club.  She is a talented player of the card game Spades and she has already made connections on the JWU campus.

"I was very happy to hear that Sarah had an interest in JWU.  We have a great need at middle hitter, and I know that Sarah will fill that role nicely.  Her attitude and outgoing spirit will help her improve her game even more," says Coach Callie Phillips.

Sarah joins Lucy Herrmann from San Diego, CA and Summer Meredith from Statesville, NC in the 2013 recruiting class.  The Wildcats return seven players from last season's team that finished eighth in the nation in the USCAA.  They look forward to improving on last season's successes in the fall.
