Charlotte, NC - Head Coach Callie Phillips and the Johnson & Wales volleyball program announced the signing of Buford, GA, native Jamie Hay. Hay, a back-to-back state champion with Buford High School, is the third signing for Phillips in the 2017 recruiting class.
A rightside/middle hitter under head coach Hadli Daniels, Hay lettered two years for Buford, finishing with 72 kills and 22 blocks. The team won the Georgia AAAA title her junior year with a perfect 41-0 record, and followed that up by winning the AAAAA title her senior year over McIntosh with a 41-4 record.
“Jamie is a great addition to our team," said Phillips. "She will be an asset on the court as she is a left-handed hitter with excellent blocking instincts and technique. As a member of two stellar squads at a powerhouse like Buford, she learned how to be a team player and find ways to contribute everywhere she could, and I look forward to seeing how she does that for us.
"Additionally, she is a class act, with all of her coaches speaking about her work ethic, character, and positive attitude. Those are the trademark qualities I recruit for, so I can’t wait to add Jamie to our roster and see her shine on our campus as a student-athlete.”
Hay plays on the club level for Metro Volleyball Club under coach William Torres. Academically, she is a four-year member of the Principal's Honor Roll at Buford.
The daughter of Richard and Michelle Hay, Jamie plans on majoring in Sports/Entertainment/Event Management.
