JWU Volleyball Takes Wake Tech in Straight Sets

Raleigh, N.C. - The USCAA #8 Johnson & Wales University volleyball team won in straight sets at Wake Tech on Thursday, claiming a 25-20, 25-23, 25-13 victory over the Eagles.

The win is the seventh in eight matches for the Wildcats (12-9) and avenged a five-set loss to the Eagles this past Saturday.

"This one felt really good from start to finish," said head coach Callie Phillips.  "We came up just short to Wake Tech last weekend, and we made a statement tonight. Our defense was solid, and that led to many opportunities to attack. I'm thrilled with our response to the challenge and our overall performance tonight."

Johmillet Berrios finished with 10 kills for Johnson & Wales while Moana Reid (13 assists) and Halle Franklin (12 assists) shared duties in directing the attack.

Kendall Watson led the visitors with 21 digs while Reid added 17 of her own.  Watson is now ranked in the top five nationally in the USCAA in total digs with 378 on the year.

The Wildcats will resume play on Friday when they travel to Greensboro to play Guilford College.  Play is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
