Charlotte, N.C. - Johnson & Wales University volleyball players Johmillet Berrios and Kendall Watson have been named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) USCAA All-Americans, with Berrios also earning selection to the North Carolina College Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State team, the university announced on Tuesday.
Berrios earned second team honors in both awards, while Watson was an honorable mention selection by the AVCA. Both Berrios and Watson were honored last month as USCAA All-Americans for their standout seasons, while Berrios was also named a USCAA Academic All-American.
Berrios, a sophomore outsdie hitter, led the Wildcats in both kills and points and was second on the team in digs. The sophomore from Bayamón, Puerto Rico ranked in the top 30 nationally in each of those categories as well.
Watson, a freshman libero from Elgin, SC, posted team highs in digs (631) and aces (58), eclipsing the program record for digs in a season.
The duo spearheaded one of the most successful campaigns in program history, leading Johnson & Wales to its second-ever appearance in the USCAA National Tournament Quarterfinals and an 18-15 record.
