Wildcats Roll in Historic EMAC Opener

Elizabeth City, NC - Johnson & Wales continued their perfect start to the 2018 season as they defeated Mid-Atlantic Christian in the first ever conference match of the newly formed Eastern Metro Athletic Conference. The Wildcats (3-0) took the match in three sets with a well-rounded performance over their newly minted conference foe, 25-10, 25-10, and 25-14.

The win over the Mustangs (0-4) is the third straight for the Wildcats and moves the team to 1-0 in the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference.

Head Coach Callie Phillips sees early improvement from the team. "We brought a balanced attack tonight from several hitters, and I am pleased with our improvements from the weekend. We were more consistent with our offense and made fewer errors. Our entire roster got to play tonight, and it was a great team effort. We are really looking forward to our tournament in Pennsylvania this weekend."

Toniya Scott (10), Iyana Favor (10), and Jamie Hay (9) led the Wildcats in kills. Moana Reid again led the team in assists with 36, while Keri Ketchie and Kendall Watson paced the team with 11 digs each.

JWU next takes the court in the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Penn State Beaver. They will take on Christendom Friday afternoon at 5pm before facing the hosts at 8pm that same evening.
