Raleigh, NC - Day 1 of the Eagle Invitational hosted by Wake Tech is complete, and the JWU Women's Volleyball Team dropped both matches..
The Wildcats took on Spartanburg Methodist (2-5) in the first match. The first set was very competitive, with the Pioneers taking it 27-25. The second match of the day saw JWU (7-3) take on host Wake Tech. The Wildcats were able to take the third set 25-18, but in the end the Eagles (4-1) proved too much. The match ended 3-1. Toniya Scott had 11 kills and Moana Reid again paced the team with 28 assists. Kendall Watson contributed 21 digs.
Faced with some adversity today, Head Coach Callie Phillips relishes the chance to hit the court again so quickly. "It's been a tough day. We knew coming in that this tournament would be a test for us. We were able to battle with two good teams, but we didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had in several spots. We are hoping to use what we learned today to improve tomorrow."
The Wildcats will look to rebound tomorrow, Sept. 8, as they take on Walters State at 12:00 pm and Richard Bland at 6:00 pm.
