Volleyballs Falls to PIU

Charlotte, NC - JWU's Women's Volleyball Team hosted Piedmont International University tonight, dropping the match, 3-1.

The Wildcats (10-5) started strong, taking the first set, 25-20, but PIU battled to take the second and third, 25-17 each. JWU fought to extend the match to a fifth set, but came up just short as the Bruins (11-2) won the fourth, 27-25.

"Every match requires our best effort, especially one against a team like Piedmont International. We were able to control the tempo at times, but not as much as we are accustomed to.  We did not make as many plays on our side of the ball tonight, and that cost us," reflected JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "We'll have some more tests next week, and I hope we respond positively."

Jamie Hay led the way for the Wildcats with 10 kills and Moana Reid recorded 32 assists. Four players tallied double digit digs: Kendall Watson with 25, Moana Reid with 15, Halle Franklin with 13, and Lynasia Felder with 10.

The Wildcats look to rebound as they host NC Wesleyan on Oct. 24 at 6:00 PM and Ferrum College on Oct. 25 at 7:00 PM.
