Wildcats Open Homecoming Weekend With A Win

Charlotte, NC – Homecoming weekend started with a bang as the JWU Volleyball team took on visiting Toccoa Falls College. The Wildcats avenged an earlier loss to TFC with a 3-0 victory.

The first set was a 25-17 victory for the Wildcats (13-12). The Screamin' Eagles (18-7) tallied 20 points in set two, but JWU won 25-20 before capping the match off with a 26-24 win in set three.

Jamie Hay led the #3 Wildcats in kills with 7, Moana Reid tallied 25 assists, and Kendall Watson recorded 20 digs.

"We got back to playing like ourselves tonight.  I am very pleased with our energy level and aggressiveness," commented JWU Head Coach Callie Phillips. "That is what we have been missing lately, and it was great to see the team work hard to get the win tonight in front of the Homecoming Crowd and especially our volleyball alumni.  We're excited for the Alumni Match tomorrow and for next week's matches."

JWU hosts their alumni game on Oct. 20 at 11:00 am before resuming season play at Piedmont International on Oct. 23. That match is slated for a 7:00 pm start time.
