Tim Hunter Tabbed As JWU Men's & Women's Tennis Head Coach

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte has named Tim Hunter as the inaugural tennis head coach. Johnson & Wales is set to begin tennis in the 2020-2021 academic year. Hunter will lead both the men's and women's tennis programs.

"I'm excited and honored to be named the men's and women's head tennis coach." said Hunter. "Although we're just getting started, the expectation and goal is to continue the winning culture at Johnson and Wales.  I welcome the challenge and look forward to coaching students athletes who share the same goal as myself."

Hunter comes to Johnson & Wales from nearby Johnson C. Smith University, where he served as the head coach for men's tennis since 2016. He is an alumnus of Johnson C. Smith, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2005. Hunter was a standout player for the Golden Bulls from 2001-2005.

Athletic Director Trudi Lacey is excited about Hunter's addition to the Wildcat family. "We are very happy to have Tim join our staff.  His experience will me a major factor in us building a quality tennis program for years to come.  We are excited to add to our already excellent staff."

Hunter has an extensive history in providing tennis instruction. He was the head coach of the Hunter Tennis Academy held in conjunction with the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department in 2008 and 2009. He has also worked as a private tennis instructor since 2005.
