The Wildcats took on the Cougars of Averett University in their last game of the 2011 calendar year. Thursday's contest between each team started off competitive, as numerous players from Averett and Johnson & Wales found their offense early on.
Averett University opened things up as they found a small amount of breathing room early in the first half, behind a strong shooting performance from Paul Porter who went 7-8 from the field. He recorded 14 points in the first half, allowing the Cougars to enter halftime with a sizable lead.
The second half of play would resemble much of the first, but JWU would find solid performances from a handful of players. Rod Latimer, Sidney Mitchell, DaShaun Alston, and BJ Sumter recorded 15, 17, 21, and 14 points respectively.
Ultimately, the Cougars took the win 101-79.
The Wildcats will return to the action after the Winter Break on January 10th, when they play host to Voorhees College. Game time is set for 7:00pm in the JWU Student Center.
