Columbia, SC - Johnson & Wales (1-2) took to the road for the first time this season as they faced off with Columbia International (2-0) for the first time ever. Columbia International was red hot all night, shooting over 56% from the field, including 13 three pointers to post a 97-76 win.
The Wildcats started quickly, jumping out to a 9-2 lead in the game's first four minutes. The Rams chipped away at the lead, and tied the game on a Joe Isenhour free throw with nine and a half minutes left in the period. CIU continued their surge for the rest of the half. They went up by thirteen, 50-37 on a pair of Zack Durkee free throws with just under one minute left, and eventually took a 51-41 lead into the break.
Nick Crawford scored the first six points of the second half for JWU to pull them within six at 53-47. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Wildcats would get. From that point, CIU never led by less than ten, and shot 7 of 8 from three point land to pull away and win by twenty one, 97-76.
The Wildcats return home on Friday as they host Christendom at 7:30pm.
