Macon, GA - Johnson & Wales (3-6) continued their road trip as they paid a visit to NCAA D-1 Mercer (3-2) on Wednesday night. Mercer used a hot shooting start to pull away from the Wildcats early en route to a 109-56 win.
Mercer hit their first five shots, building an 11-0 lead. The Bears extended their lead to 33-9 over the first ten minutes of the game. The lead would grow to as many as 32 in the first half, and JWU trailed 59-28 at the half.
Any hopes of a Wildcat comeback were dashed by a cold shooting start to the second half. JWU could only muster seven points over the first eleven minutes, while Mercer continued their impressive shooting display, shooting over 70% in the second half. That led them to their 53 point win.
JWU now breaks for the Thanksgiving holiday. They will next be in action on Saturday, November 30 as they travel to Wofford for a 2pm game.
