Raleigh, NC – The 20th ranked Wildcats (6-13) traveled to Raleigh this afternoon to take on the William Peace Pacers. The Pacers moved to 4-0 all-time against JWU with a 90-71 win.
The Pacers started the first half with a 14-5 run. The Wildcats were able to close the gap, going on a 9-0 run to tie the game at 14. JWU stayed close to the Pacers, and only trailed by 6 after a Joshua Cohen layup with 1:07 left in the half. Peace scored 5 unanswered points in the last 67 seconds to take a 47-36 lead at the break.
The Pacers started the second half on a 14-4 run to take a 21 point lead at 61-40. WPU's lead grew to as many as 21 at 61-40, with 13 minutes left. The closest JWU would get the rest of the game was 17 points, and the Pacers cruised to a 19 point win, while dominating the glass 55-24.
The Wildcats will return home Tuesday, Jan. 14, when reigning USCAA D-II National Champion Warren Wilson pays a visit. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm.
