Charlotte, NC – 16th ranked Johnson & Wales (11-18) took on the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University (8-14) this afternoon. The Wildcats extended their win streak to 3 with a 98-53 win.
JWU went on an 11-3 run to open the first half. The Mustangs replied with an 8-0 run of their own to tie the game at 13. A 14-2 Wildcat spurt spanning 4:51, pushed their lead to 36-23. They would extend that lead to sixteen at the break, 47-31.
JWU scored the first 19 points of the second half, and extended the run to 33-2 over the first eight minutes to push their lead to 80-33. The Mustangs could muster little in the way of a comeback, as they shot just 29.6% in the second half. JWU cruised to a 45 point win, in which all 11 Wildcats that played also scored.
Joshua Cohen led the Wildcats with 21 points and 7 rebounds. DeQuincey Bennett and Hursel Forbes added 20 and 15 points, respectively. Nick Crawford tallied 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The Wildcats are next in action on Monday, February 17th, Senior Night, when they host College of Faith at 7:30pm.
