Charlotte, NC – 16th ranked Johnson & Wales hosted the College of Faith Saints in their final home game of the season. JWU had a brief ceremony prior to tip-off honoring their 4 graduating seniors. The Wildcats started off slow, but were able to turn the game around taking the win, 88-73.
The Saints took an early 12-9 lead in the first half. The Wildcats were able to tie the game at 14, before going on a 15-2 run keyed by a DeQuincey Bennett 3 pointer to take a 29-16 lead with 8 minutes left in the half. COF went on an 8-2 run that cut the deficit to 6 at 31-25. JWU maintained a small lead over the Saints for the last 5:30 left on the clock. Bennett's second 3 pointer beat the half time buzzer giving the Wildcats a 44-33 lead at the break.
COF opened the second half on a 21-10 run to tie the game at 54. A Nick Crawford layup allowed JWU to retake the lead immediately afterward. A 17-6 run extended the Wildcat lead to 11 at 71-60. JWU was never seriously threatened by the Saints, cruising to a 88-73 victory.
Joshua Cohen led the Wildcats with 25 points, 17 rebounds, and 4 assists. Nick Crawford tallied 15 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals. Bennett added 18 points and 4 rebounds.
The Wildcats will take on Bob Jones University in their final game of the season this Thursday, February 20th at 7:00pm.
