Farmington, PA - Johnson & Wales junior guard DeQuincey Bennett was named 2nd Team USCAA All-American at the USCAA's annual basketball awards banquet Tuesday night. He is the first Wildcat to garner such honors.
Bennett starred in his first season at Johnson & Wales. He led the USCAA, making 3.6 three pointers per game, and also led the nation with 103 made three pointers, while shooting 39.9% from long distance. There were eight games during the course of the season where he made at least five threes. He scored in double figures in 26 of his 29 games, and scored better than 20 points seven times. He starred in the JWU Cup, going 15-22 from the field and made 11 threes in the two games. He made eight of those threes and scored a career high 33 points against JWU Denver to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
