Charlotte, NC -- Coach Jim Casciano announces yet another signee for the 2014-2015 Men's Basketball Team at Johnson & Wales University. Michael Hussein of New York has chosen to continue his academic and basketball careers at JWU.
A combo guard who averaged 7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in his last campaign, Hussein is ready to join the Wildcat Basketball Team. "I was honored when Coach Casicano expressed his interest in my ability to play the game of basketball," he said. "This is an up-and-coming program that won't settle for anything less than greatness, and I would be crazy if I didn't want to be a part of that process."
Coach Casciano is looking forward to working with the potential he sees in Hussein. "Mike is a combination guard from New York who brings toughness, IQ, and versatility to our program. With his work ethic and experience, I anticipate that he will challenge for playing time next season. In his case, statistics don't tell the whole story of his game," he said.
Hussein joins a growing recruiting class for 2014-2015 as the new era of JWU Men's Basketball begins. The team begins play at home on October 31. In the meantime, Hussein will continue to get to know his new school and all it has to offer. "I didn't know anything about Johnson & Wales University until Coach Casicano contacted me about possibly attending the school and playing for him. I was unsure at first because of how far away it is from home, but as soon as I looked at the school website and reviews about the school, I instantly fell in love with the university. It has the major I have been looking for, and the opportunities that the university gives to their students are amazing." Wildcat basketball fans are happy student-athletes like Hussein are choosing JWU and can't wait to support the team this winter.
