Danville, VA -- After a tough match-up against a stout NCAA Division I opponent Tuesday, the JWU Men's Basketball Team bounced back to battle Averett University in a game that came down to the wire Wednesday night. The teams were tied at halftime, and Averett was just able to edge the Wildcats 70-67 as free throws and smart play dictated the end of the game. Averett used a balanced attack to put four scorers in double-figures and shot 52.9% for the game. The Wildcats showed great improvement in their shooting as they were good for 50% of their overall shots and 41.7% percent from three-point range. Free throws proved to be a huge difference in the game as Averett got to the line sixteen times for eleven points in the second half, and JWU was only 0-2 in that same span.
Nick Crawford led the the Wildcats with 15 points, while Thiago Conceicao had 13 points, and Tramain Parker chipped in 12. The Wildcats (4-6) can rest their legs for the rest of the week as their next game is at Campbell University on Monday, December 8. Monday marks the kick-off of JWU Cup Week in Athletics as we count down to the JWU Cup Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
