Men's Basketball Loses Tight Game with Averett University

Danville, VA -- After a tough match-up against a stout NCAA Division I opponent Tuesday, the JWU Men's Basketball Team bounced back to battle Averett University in a game that came down to the wire Wednesday night.  The teams were tied at halftime, and Averett was just able to edge the Wildcats 70-67 as free throws and smart play dictated the end of the game.  Averett used a balanced attack to put four scorers in double-figures and shot 52.9% for the game.  The Wildcats showed great improvement in their shooting as they were good for 50% of their overall shots and 41.7% percent from three-point range.  Free throws proved to be a huge difference in the game as Averett got to the line sixteen times for eleven points in the second half, and JWU was only 0-2 in that same span.

Nick Crawford led the the Wildcats with 15 points, while Thiago Conceicao had 13 points, and Tramain Parker chipped in 12.  The Wildcats (4-6) can rest their legs for the rest of the week as their next game is at Campbell University on Monday, December 8.  Monday marks the kick-off of JWU Cup Week in Athletics as we count down to the JWU Cup Tournament on Friday and Saturday.  Join other Wildcat fans on Monday night in the Wildcat Den at 6:30 for drinks and refreshments and to watch the Wildcats on the big screen.  Later in the week, the other JWU campuses come calling to battle for the JWU Cup. JWU plays in the late game on Friday at 7:30 PM.  The first game is at 5:30 PM.
