Charlotte, NC -- The Johnson & Wales University Wildcat Basketball Teams returned to campus this week and are preparing to host a doubleheader with USCAA opponent Warren Wilson College on Thursday, January 8. Warren Wilson attended the JWU Tip-Off Classic in November, but they did not play JWU at the time. This later meeting will be a good opportunity for both Wildcat teams to compete with quality USCAA contenders.
The JWU Men's Team enters the new year with a 6-9 record and is 2-1 against USCAA teams. They have battled NCAA Division I opponents such as North Carolina Central, UNC Asheville, Campbell, and Radford in preparation for a crucial January schedule that features three USCAA games and some other familiar opponents. The Wildcats are currently ranked #12 in the USCAA Division II Coaches Poll, while Warren Wilson is ranked #7. A win over the 7-9 Owls could help Johnson & Wales improve in the standings.
The JWU Women's Team starts 2015 at 3-9. After a 3-1 start to the season, the Lady Wildcats met some tough teams in December, but they look to build on that experience when they meet Warren Wilson College on Thursday. Warren Wilson's women's team is currently ranked #12 in the USCAA Division II Coaches Poll, and the Wildcats are just outside of the top twenty teams. This is a crucial match-up for JWU and put them at 4-0 against league opponents.
The women's game starts at 5:30 PM on Thursday with the men's game to follow at 7:30 PM. Come out and support your Wildcats in this USCAA Doubleheader!
