JWU Men's Basketball Adds Standout Transfer Quoyai Shorter

Charlotte, NC - Head Coach Jim Casciano and the Johnson & Wales men's basketball program announced the signing of transfer student Quoyai Shorter on Thursday.  Shorter, a rising sophomore and leading scorer at Wentworth Military Academy, is the second official signing of Casciano's 2017 recruiting class.

The native of Smiths Station, AL, led Wentworth this past season as a freshman with 15.8 points per game, including a season high 32 points in November against Arkansas State Mid-South.

A 6'4" guard, Shorter earned 2nd Team All-Region and Team MVP honors for his efforts.  He also was a member of the Dean's List in the fall and winter terms.

As a prep, Shorter was a two-year captain for Smiths Station High School.  He played AAU for Team Heat and Georgia Wildcats.

"'Q' is a quality young man and we are excited about his decision to attend Johnson & Wales," said Casciano.  "He fits in well with the kind of student-athlete we are looking to recruit.  Q gets it done in the classroom and he is a versatile player who is a capable scorer and shooter from the three-point line.

"I anticipate big things from him during his career."

He is the son of Quay Shorter and plans on majoring in business.
