Charlotte, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales men's basketball team was denied back-to-back wins on Tuesday night, losing 98-90 in overtime to Bob Jones University at the Wildcat Center.
The Wildcats (3-10) led by eight with 1:40 remaining in regulation after a three-pointer by Majerle Poole. However, Bob Jones was able to close the period on a 9-1 run to force overtime and held Johnson & Wales to just three field goals from that point.
Poole led the Wildcats with 24 points on the evening while also tying for a team high seven rebounds.
Johnson & Wales enjoyed the better of the play early on and led 48-40 at halftime. However, the Bruins dominated the post, outscoring Johnson & Wales 48-14 in the paint. The Wildcats resorted to 43 attempts from beyond the arc, but were only able to cash in on 14 of them.
Bruins guard Nate Ellenwood led all scorers with 25 points while also posting seven boards and six assists.
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Friday when it hosts Carolina Christian as part of the JWU Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Center.
