Jim Casciano Announces His Retirement From Coaching

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim Casciano has announced that he is retiring effective March 30th after four seasons with the program.

Casciano is the most successful coach in the history of the program, compiling a 56-61 record during his four seasons. Included in those seasons were two trips to the USCAA Division II national semi-finals in 2014-15 and 2015-16. He was named USCAA National Coach of the Year in 2014-2015.

During his time in Charlotte, Casciano coached two-time USCAA 1st Team All-American and 2016 USCAA National Player of the Year Rickey Porter. He also coached two other USCAA All-Americans in DeQuincey Bennett and Tramain Parker. Christian Creswell and Miles Myrick were named USCAA Aacademic All-American under Casciano's tutelage. 

His coaching career spans more than forty years and includes stops at every level of basketball from junior college to NCAA Division I. He amassed 386 victories as a head coach.

Athletic Director Trudi Lacey described his effect on the athletic program at Johnson & Wales. "It has been an honor to work with Jim, and his insight has helped us transform the department of athletics at JWU Charlotte campus. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Jim for his contribution to our success and wish him well in his retirement."
