Charlotte, NC - The JWU Men's Basketball Team hosted Piedmont International on Tuesday night. On a night when the Wildcats could not get the three ball working, they dropped the contest 70-64.
PIU (1-1) jumped out to an 11-0 lead early, but the Wildcats gradually fought their way back into the game. JWU finally pulled ahead with 7:50 left in the game, but in the end, the cold shooting from the three point line cost them. With 5:46 left, the Bruins retook the lead and held on from there. The Wildcats went 2-24 from the three point line compared to 9-23 for PIU.
"Thought our guys competed all the way through despite a tough shooting night. I have to to do a better job putting our team in better spots offensively that they can be successful. Not going to win many games getting out rebounded by 10 and shooting 8% from the perimeter," commented Head Coach Dan Larkin. "We will learn from it and be ready to play Toccoa Falls, Saturday."
Majerle Poole led the Wildcats (1-1) in scoring with 14 points and 3 assists.
The Wildcats take on Toccoa Falls College on the road on Nov. 10 at 4:00 pm.
