Madisonville, TN - The JWU men's basketball team took on Hiwassee College on Friday night and returned home with a 79-78 victory. Trailing for most of the game, the Wildcats' Kajuan Madden-McAfee hit a three with 9 seconds remaining to claim the one-point victory. The #6 ranked Wildcats move to 18-8 on the season and extend their winning streak to 13 games.
"Winning on the road is one of the hardest things to do in college athletics. Never an easy task," reflected Head Coach Dan Larkin on the win. "That being said, we, as a team headed toward postseason play, absolutely must be better about focusing on the task in front of us. It was not about talent or making shots but simple mental lapses that gave them the advantage over us for most of the game. Without Caleb's minutes tonight I believe that result goes in their favor; he was really there for us when we needed a spark. Big shot by Kajuan down the stretch and kudos to Rob for instilling confidence in his teammates late that if we got a stop we were going to finish it on the other end, no timeout necessary. Proud of our team."
The Wildcats travel to Piedmont International for a 5:00 pm tip-off on Feb. 16th.
