Charlotte, NC - Head Coach Dan Larkin and the Johnson & Wales men's basketball program announced the signing of Grayson, GA native DJ Williams for the 2019-2020 season. Williams, a graduate of Grayson High School, is the seventh member of Larkin's 2019 recruiting class.
"I am excited that DJ has decided to be a part of the JWU basketball family," said Larkin. "DJ comes from a great family and is a person with high character that has excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court. His versatility, intellect, and skills will allow him to be an impact player from the jump. He is a difference maker for this program."
The 6'2" guard led Grayson to a 25-4 record his senior year, finishing 2nd in Georgia's Region 8-7A as well as a berth in the Final 4 of Region 7A GHSA State Championships. He was selected as a 2018 CP3 Rising Star during his senior season.
On the AAU circuit, DJ spent time running with the Georgia Stars of the Nike EYBL and the Atlanta Express of the Under Armour tour.
Williams is the son of Donald & Rhonda Williams and plans to major in Business Marketing. When asked about his decision to attend Johnson & Wales, DJ stated, "I chose to attend Johnson and Wales because I researched the school and it offers an excellent business program and I can pursue a degree in Business Marketing. In addition, the Charlotte area promotes a wide range of volunteer opportunities where I can participate in community service. Lastly, Coach Dan Larkin and the Johnson and Wales basketball community has given me the opportunity to play the game of basketball that I love, and I hope that I can be an asset to the program".
