Charlotte, NC - The JWU Men's Basketball Team set a new program record for points in a game when they hosted SC Faith A&M on Wednesday, downing the visitors with a 134-80 victory.
The Wildcats shot an incredible 61% from the field while limiting the Ragin' Bulls to only 36%. JWU shot 12-25 from three for 48%, and held SC Faith A&M to 10 of 43 from three. Johnson & Wales outrebounded their opponent 51-37, and held an 80-32 advantage on points in the paint. The Wildcats' bench outscored the visitors' bench 57-22. The Wildcats also converted 30 Ragin' Bulls turnovers into 54 points.
Majerle Poole led the Wildcats with 32 points on an ultra-efficient 16-20 from the field. He also had 7 rebounds. Robert Hobson added 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting, including 6 of 10 from three. Hobson also added 5 steals. Brandon Kostyk had 11 points and 5 assists. Malik Bullock contributed 4 steals on the night. Antonio Smith led the team with 8 rebounds in addition to his 8 points.
"Fun environment tonight! Our fans and student body are second to none," remarked JWU Head Coach Dan Larkin after the game. "Proud of the way the guys are working thus far this season and looking forward to a tough opponent in Campbell on Saturday. That should be a tremendous litmus test to see where we are as a team heading into break!"
The Wildcats, #1 in USCAA D2, move to 8-2 for the season and travel to NCAA D1 Campbell on December 21st for a 1:00 pm tip-off.
