Elizabeth City, NC - Johnson & Wales continued the best start in program history with a 69-64 win over Mid-Atlantic Christian in Eastern Metro Conference action on Saturday.
The Wildcats (15-3, 2-0) struggled from the field in the first half, making only 1 of 16 three point attempts, and shooting 28.9%, but held an eight point advantage at the half as Mid-Atlantic Christian shot just 18.2%.
Johnson & Wales seemed poised to pull away from the Mustangs (5-11, 1-1) as they built their lead to as many as 15 points at 44-29. MACU rallied on the strength of 7 second half three-pointers to make it a close game late, but the Wildcats held on for the 69-64 win.
Majerle Poole had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Zyrion Wilkins added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Kevin Fletcher led MACU with 18 points.
Johnson & Wales is next in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Warren Wilson for an 8pm game.
