High Point's Summers Joins JWU Men's Basketball

Charlotte, NC - JWU Men's Basketball Head Coach Dan Larkin announced Brandon Summers II as the newest member of the 2020 recruiting class.

Summers is from High Point, NC and attends Salem Baptist Christian School. He helped guide the Vikings to a Tri-Tac Conference Championship in the 2019-2020 season. The 6'8" center/power forward was recognized as a Tri-Tac Honorable Mention following his senior season. He also competed in track and cross country for the Vikings. Summers plays his AAU ball for Carolina Stars Basketball under Coach Chris Hunt.

"I chose JWU Charlotte because of the amazing opportunities presented to me," responded Summers when asked why he chose Johnson & Wales. "Being able to play basketball after high school, learning to be an accountant in the evergrowing "Queen City", and while still being close to home."

Brandon is the son of Jacquelyn Sapp & Brandon M. Summers Sr. He plans to major in Corporate Accounting and Financial Analysis. In high school, Brandon was a NCCTM (North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics) Level 3 winner.

"We are extremely excited to add Brandon to our basketball family. Brandon is an outstanding young man and makes us a better program on and off the court the second he gets to campus in the fall," remarked Coach Larkin on the signing. "His versatility on the defensive end and on the glass make him a much needed addition to our team. Brandon is an incredible athlete and I cannot wait to get to work with him and watch him grow over these next 4 years."
