Charlotte, NC - The first week of the new year saw three Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's golfers participate in regional amateur events. The tournaments are held by state and regional golf associations with the aim of giving collegiate golfers playing opportunities outside of intercollegiate competition.
Freshmen Logan Jarrett (Concord, NC) and Jakob Schwartz (Charlotte, NC) took part in the Carolina Golf Associations' 12th annual Carolinas Young Amateur. It was held at Pinewild Country Club's Magnolia course on January 4th and 5th in Pinehurst, NC. Schwartz shot rounds of 81-86=167 to earn a share of 60th place. Jarrett followed a first round 87 with a second round 88 for a 175 total and a 70th place finish.
Paul Ackerman, a freshman from Cumming, GA teed it up in the North American College Golf event at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, GA on January 5th and 6th. Ackerman opened with a 76 in the first round, and shot an 80 in the second round, finishing in 15th place.
