Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales took on Mid-Atlantic Christian in the first ever Eastern Metro Athletic Conference men's soccer game. JWU, ranked #1 in the preseason USCAA Coaches' Poll, was dominant in an 11-0 win.
The Wildcats outshot the Mustangs 34-0, with 23 of those being on frame. Cody Wallingford tallied 12 saves for MACU (0-3) on the evening.
Weeb Isaac and Josiah Davis both recorded hat-tricks on the night, while Isaiah McDonald and Brandon Greene each chipped in two goals for JWU (4-0). Gavin Brundidge also scored a goal from the CB position for the Wildcats. Shawn Geiger, Chris Garcia, Marcos Perez, Ariel Morales, and McDonald all recorded assists. Andrew Sanchez collected the shutout in goal.
Head Coach Matthew Payne was happy with his team: "Every time we get an opportunity to play soccer, it's a privilege. I was happy to see the boys embrace that and enjoy their play tonight. MACU is a much improved team and I'm glad they are in our conference. I hope they continue this forward progress with their program."
JWU next plays Toccoa Falls on Sept. 29. The home game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm kick-off.
