Men's Soccer Inks Havelock Keeper Diep

Charlotte, NC - JWU Men's Soccer Coach Matt Payne has announced Vincent Diep as the newest member of the 2019 recruiting class. The 6' goalkeeper joins JWU after a distinguished prep career at Havelock High School. The Havelock, NC native has played club soccer for Seashore Soccer League, Swansboro Soccer Association, and also captained the GPS Elite team Eastern North Carolina United, winners of the 2018 US Club Southeast Regionals.

While suiting up for Havelock, Vincent earned many accolades: "Rising Star Award" his freshman year, All-Conference his sophomore and junior years, All-Area his sophomore year, and All-Region his junior year.

Vincent is the son of Ha Diep and Thuy Vo, and he plans to major in either Culinary Arts or Business. He is a member of the National Honor Society.

"After visiting and talking to Coach Payne, I just felt at home," commented Diep about why he chose Johnson & Wales University. "I feel like I can grow as a player and even more as a student at JWU."

"I'm so pleased to add Vinny to our program. He is one of those ideal prospects with a high floor and a high ceiling, meaning he's already a great player and still has so much potential. He also excels in the classroom, making him a no-brainer for us," commented Coach Payne. "While he is a top player and student, I'm also really excited about adding his positive and charismatic personality to the team."
